Bristol Just Said, '˜Let's Hold Off on the Engagement.'

They certainly have had their ups and downs, and rumor has it that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have called off their engagement.

A source close to the couple told E! News that Ms Palin ended things last week following a fight over one of Johnston's ex-girlfriends.

First you say you do and then you don't,
Then you say you will and then you won't.
You're undecided now so what am I suppased to do?

I thought that the GOBP, Party of No, hated "flip floppers."

I guess Bristol learned that "quitting is winning" from her 1/2 term Governor, mother.

Who could refudiate their Compassionate Conservatism, Republicon "family values?"

So, Brandon.

You think she should have gone through marrying this gold digging loser who will have a baby with an ex-girlfriend?

I didn't accept his proposal, Susi.

She did.

Her bad choices are not my problem.

Her "abstinence-only" education proved Pope-like in its infallibility.

Where was her "just say no" at that moment?

But, they are both young and ignorant.

Based upon both of their genetic trees, there is no surprise in the ridiculous bumbling going on.

We may not always agree, Susi, but I still love to read your posts.

Brandon.

I'll rephrase.

So, do you think any woman faced with this exact situation should go through with a marriage to a man like this?

Should a woman in an abusive relationship or marriage stick it through.

So as to avoid being seen as a quitter?

One thing, Brandon, is quitting a job, a career. One thing is stopping yourself from making a HUGE personal mistake.

Bristol isn't calling off this engagement to go make millions of crap covered dollars like hre mother, she's saving herself from a miserable situation and protecting her son.

Obviously, she wants a complete family so she went for it. And now the the whole truth is out and he is not the one she feels is right for her to have that.

A woman does not need a man in her life to have a complete life or family.

Big difference.

Likewise.

Susi, the fact that she broke off the engagement, shows dignity, restraint, courage, and wisdom....at a very young age....while immersed with political pressure from her psycho mother to tow the Neo-Con Evangelical Christian anti-feminism of "stand by your man."

In reflection, assuming that Bristol is authentic and will be consistent with her decision, she would be a courageous young lady, who would embody the true "feminism" that Palin-lite pretends to.

Your refudiation of my post ( ;-) ) really made me go back and rethink what I had said...and I am utterly grateful.

I'm glad you are able to see it as a positive, mature step for her to take. No doubt very embarrassing considering how public it was (the engagement) and painful, but she did right by herself and her son. And that she is growing to be rather different from her mother. Thankfully.

Not easy walking away from a dream.

Well, Brandon, you're welcome and thank you

:)

Smart, smart, young woman who isn't falling for the tried and true suffocating, historically Christian Conservative mantra of "Stand by your man"

Take the foundation your parents gave you and create one to fit your life.

Bravo, Bristol. He's beneath you. You deserve better. I hope you do not fall to photo op and spin pressure.

Bristol has had such a struggle and I think this is a great move for her. Living in the boonies (I was raised in one) makes it so much harder to see the whole picture of the world. I'm proud of Bristol for thinking twice.

The poor kid is so young I'm sure she doesn't know which end is up half the time. To have a mother like her's she must be doubly confused.

She obviously does not have a relationship with her mother that can support major disappointments like this.

It would devastate me if I couldn't at least cuddle with mine when stuff happens in her life.

I hope she has someone in her life she can go to for support.

Her mother is a horrible example of mothering.

Susi I think anyone exploiting a child is a downright abuser and Sarah fits the mold quite well. I've known mother's like her and their children suffer under their self-absorbed quest for notoriety. I read the article on Bristol in People Magazine while on the flight to Portland. From what was written it sounded like she is simply trying to be a responsible adult and raise her little buddy not attempting to be in the limelight. I also think that whole rant about abstaining from sex until marriage made her look like a fool and that is all wrong. When the engagement was announced and she said that she and Levi would not engage in sex before the wed I nearly gagged. Good grief I think it is a bit late for that after they produced a little buddy. Personally I think Sarah's twisted mindset has been very detrimental to Bristol.

I have, too.

It never ends well....except for the one that walks away, stands differently from where they came from and breaks that cycle.

Definitely, a wise choice on her part. You know I never thought I would say this, but she is way too good for him.

Now, if she can just get away from the environment (fishbowl) she is in maybe she will have a chance at more normal life.
