In his new book, Suicide Of A Superpower, Buchanan argues that increased diversity in America, and the concomitant decline of the long-held white majority, is slowly and inexorably destroying the country. He lays much of the blame at the feet of affirmative action programs, and casts the Republican opposition to Sonia Sotomayor's nomination as a long-overdue "backlash" to the "regime of racial and ethnic entitlements."

... of course, if you stretch the timeline out a bit, you'll see that of the 112 people who have served as a Justice of the Supreme Court, all but six have been white men. That the (very) recent cracks in that power structure are enough to send Pat Buchanan into a sepulchral gloom about the death of America says a lot more about Buchanan that it does the health of the nation.
Pat Buchanan id a twisted, Catholic, rectoid, curmudgeon and should retire from all media and the world.

"It's a white man's world"... according to the voices in Pat Buchanan's head.
Among the numerous shocking, inflammatory, unabashedly racist and misogynistic statements that this hate-driven guy has spewed on the airwaves and in his writings is the conclusion that Sotomayor was a non-intellectual and had achieved all of her successes due to affirmative action. He also publicly mocked her for her admission that she had to work hard to master the English language while in college.
Her academic achievements speak for themselves, and she worked her way up the judicial ladder through hard work and mastery of her craft. The American Bar Association had given her the highest rating possible for a prospective appointment to the SCOTUS.
And of course, she was ultimately approved by the Senate to join the Supreme Court. And no, she has not been a laughing stock and has held her own quite capably since appointed to the Court.
But none of that matters to Buchanan, who cannot see past her gender, accent, or complexion. And if you were to ask Mr. Buchanan if he was a racist, he would no doubt explode in a rage of indignation over such an outlandish accusation.

Buchanan is an unabashed bigot. It is as simple as that.
He 'came out' years ago but he was an especially rabid racist during the last presidential campaign and apparently, like all the rest of the right wing bigots, feels now that we have a black man in the White House he has free rein to spew his bigotry as much as he chooses.
Unfortunately there are a lot of the rank and file of the Republican Party who feel exactly as he does.

It is not just the rank and file otherwise this bigot would have been off the air along time ago. He maintains a job while rarely does a democrat call him out and god forbid a republican/libertarian to do it.
