Wisconsin Dems File Complaint With State Against David Koch ~~~ Billionaires Trying To BUY Our Elections

Specifically, the Dems announced on a conference call with reporters Thursday that they were filing a complaint with the state Government Accountability Board, which oversees elections in the state, and also forwarding a copy to the Internal Revenue Service at the federal level. The complaint involves statements that Koch made to a newspaper — and his organization’s official non-profit, non-partisan status.

When shown a copy of the Dems' complaint and asked for comment, AFP spokesman Levi Russell told TPM:

"This complaint has no merit whatsoever and will be thrown out as any frivolous complaint should be. With no legal ground to stand on, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is resorting to intimidation tactics and threats against Wisconsin television stations, in an attempt to stifle free speech and halt the educational efforts of 'It's Working Wisconsin.' Complaints of this type are a desperate tactic by a power-hungry political party that has found themselves on the wrong side of the issue."

This man must be being hysterically ironic. Power hungry? "It's Working Wisconsin?" Desperate? ROTFLMAO!!!

Hey I like it ... Lets investigate all the 501(c)(3) 's .....

Democrat's are building some really pretty Glass Houses...

Lets start with anyone that got even 1 penny from the Democrat equivalent of the Koch Brothers George Soros and all his organization... Foundations and affiliates...

This could be very enlightening for everyone...

Lets pull back the curtains of all to see what the Koch Brothers are doing and what Soros and his friends are doing...

Let the American people see ALL OF IT..Both sides !!!

I am all for it ...EXPOSE THE KOCH BROTHERS ...AND GEORGE SOROS and FRIENDS!!!!

But one without the other is partisan politics not a search for the truth.... Just selective truths ! Partial truths !!!

I'll take real honest truth that exposes both sides.... Let them both live in GLASS HOUSES!

We've had this conversation before Jim. Sure let's do it and be prepared to see a lot of Faith Based Organizations shut down too. As we start to investigate the Billions in government grants that went to FBOs. And while we are at it we can look into some of these shady defense deals and where some of the Iraq oil money went also. I think drawing back the curtain as you said would be good for the country. If you're guilty so be it. I think we are ready for a reckoning. Who has more to hide?

Corporatist Koch is the puppet master of the GOP, money talks, which is the reason for attacks on workers rights, and attacks on environmental standards that protect our air and water from further industry pollution. Koch is buying the election, and will be everybody's "boss" unless people wake up, turn off FOX Corporate Interests Central, and vote to defend their rights. Obama 2012.

Yea sure by buying influence...

"We spent a fortune to elect Barack Obama -- $60.7 million to be exact -- and we're proud of it," boasted Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union, to the Las Vegas Sun this week.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/05/13/big_labors_investment_in_obama_pays_off_96469.html

The best president a Union can buy... A Union with 2 million members gave $60.7 million to elect a president! For that you think they didn't expect something?

Remember when he said this ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxVNuM7-ec4

The SEIU scored not one but two Cabinet appointees: Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. The SEIU pitched in with maximum donations to Solis' first congressional campaign and lent her nearly 300 canvassers and ground troops. "I wouldn't be here, were it not for my friends in the labor movement," she gushed. Indeed, over four terms in Congress, Solis has pocketed more than $900,000 in union campaign contributions.

Same article as above...

It's hard to believe there are actually people who would rather see greedy corporatists make an extra buck on top of their billions by stealing American rights and buying our elections. Non millionaires should be working to protect their own God given rights instead of handing them over to power grubbing politicians and their corporate handlers. FOX Corporate Propaganda and BS Central sure has been successful in turning non readers into corporate zombies. George Soro's is the right wings old standby, the only source of contributions they can name, while right wing billionaires and corporatists pour millions and millions into the coffers of the worst slate of GOP candidates right wing extremists in modern history. At least these greedy corporatists have been obvious about spending money to protect their largess, but what do these poor and middle class FOX addicts hope to get out of it? Corporate lobbyist Dick Armey must be laughing all the way to the bank since he's been able to get the very people who are being duped, and stolen from, to do his job for him.

Do you really want Santorum spending his time dictating what you do in the bedroom instead of addressing the economic problems of America? Can't you make your own religious and personal family decisions? Or "spend your tax dollars on a moon colony" Newt, a guy who can't even be trusted by his own family and is hated by everyone who ever worked with him? Or maybe you like crazy old Uncle Ron, the perenial candidate who seems amazed that anyone is listening. Or Mitt, who seems to have no convictions of any kind, and will say anything to get elected.

First of all Mr. Soros has been disappointed with President Obama. So far he has not been a major donor this year so far. Click here.

The reason the GOP has put up this slate of possible candidates is that they think President Obama will win. The big lights on the right are waiting until 2016. The GOP last four this year are expendable as were McCain/Palin in 2008.

At present FOX and the GOP candidates are busy roiling the far rights emotions of fear and anger. Those two emotions block reason and consideration. Hence, we have this political pandemonium. It will be horrible to watch but maybe it will clear the psychogenic environment of the present and lead to a more constructive 2016.

You remember that quote, "The Kingdom of Heaven is within you?" Well within many on the religious far right is a kingdom of anger, fear and judgement. I can't help but think they are like what's "within" them.

Instead of following the wisdom they claim by faith, they act out destruction, smugness and contumely. [That last word is in their "Bible."] They feel they are the bearers of "god's" truth.

Sorry Steve3003, but to use your own words,

Sorry fella, your analogy is @!$%#ed up.

"Unions PROTECT workers rights, hours, safety, etc." You can use the words any way you like but in the end, it is what it is. Large corporations may pay tons of cash to support, buy, lobby or as it was stated earlier be the puppet-master of Republicans and I will not argue that point. Now in all fairness let's call it like it is, Unions, support, buy, lobby or is the puppet-master for the democratic party. And how is this done? I'm sure I don't need to tell you it is through large sums of money right. Don't misunderstand me, I do not think either side is right in allowing the fate of our government and political system to be influenced by large corporations with cash rivers or the unions deep pockets.

The decisions made by both parties are influenced by who has the biggest piggy bank and not necessarily what is in the best interest of the American people and we are left to deal with the consequences and live with it. The entire political system of both parties is flawed, tainted and in need of a house cleaning from top to bottom and room to room. The government of this nation needs to be in the government business and not the auto, insurance, housing or banking business.

Tate also later added: “If we don’t consistently fight back as more billionaires try to buy our elections, this will become a matter of fact thing. and I’m a little disappointed that all of you in the media are just shrugging your shoulders and accepting this.”

I had come to accept political corruption as normal. Indeed, I thought it so normal that I could not see corruption for what it is; I had convinced myself that it was OK to bribe Congress and to own the Presidency. It is NOT normal, not is a functioning democracy, it's not. Is our democracy functioning?

I have my doubts.

Last night on the Colbert I watched Nancy Pelosi state the under Citizens United we are becoming a plutocracy. Basically if the uber-rich give give one to 100 million dollars to a candidate then why bother with an election? Just ask them who they want in the House, the Senate and the White House and save the money of an election.

Remember these are the very ones who are pissing and moaning about a tax increase. What a world.

We saw what it did in 2010. Millions of dollars poured into local elections, remember the bullseyes? We had a state senator, a teabagger, who only lasted 6 months in office, but voted for that union stripping bill of the GOP that was overturned by referendum. When he had to deal with the constituency over it at home, he just quit and took a job with a gas company. Hard to say what other legislation was passed while he was in there, but he was able to land a big deal for himself. Americans better start paying attention to what is going on. Obama is being used as the scapegoat for all the ills of the country, by the corrupt and self-serving at all levels of government.

None of the block donations from Corporate or Union's members or stockholders is free speech. The Supreme Court is wrong.

Both problems need fixing. I was in the Teamsters back in the 50s and quit my job rather than have them rule so much of my life. I think they deserve some compensation for doing the bargaining for our benefit but all the rest is none of the union's business. In the same way, corporations should not be donating as a block for their stockholders. The stockholders should do the voting without a collective donation that does not necessarilly represent all of them.

Let me include the evil of district gerrymandering as an additional evil that insures the incumbent almost never loses.

I almost forgot the voter ID move by the Right to keep people that might have different views from voting.

The selection system needs fixing in the worst way

These politician's are able to find-force-beg-borrow-steal millions for elections. Over and over on both sides for elections year after year. Just think, these people can find millions to support them and their cause, get elected or stay elected but for some reason can't seem to balance a budget. Imagine how much better of the economy and country would be in if these same people put 10% of their effort into their job as they do elections.

Funny you should say that - Walker is being pursued by the hounds of the public unions precisely because he did find a way to balance the budget. Not just for now, but for the future.

Act 10 is a structural change. It actually puts the taxpayers back into the process of determining compensation and benefits for public employees. The process had gotten so skewed in favor of the WEAC union, who chose their own candidates for local school boards and then backed them with huge amounts of money, that the School Boards were voting on the pay of their masters. And AFSCME did the same with the Democrat State Senators and the Legislature.

Unions no matter how vile they may be are controlled by humans. Walker is controlled by David Koch who deducts contributions from his taxes. He is an overlord. He does absolutely squat for his inherited money.

You don't read the whole thread otherwise you would know that I have cited a reference of George Soros' campaign contributions so far.

I read the thread ... You only referenced his personal donations..Not what he has done through organizations he controls...

Sadly it appears you will not address the issue I brought up... Soros working through proxies and surrogates...

Care to comment on Donations and activities of those organizations and the influence they excert on the election process?

      mymymy - interesting, thanks.

Pippo - no where in my rant, babble or post did I specify any 1 person, politician or political party. I think my post grew legs and assumed an identity. I was just commenting on how much money (million and millions) politicians and parties are able to raise to support their interest. I guess the point I was making is that, politicians, if so inclined and motivated could find the same will and support to balance budgets for the state and the nation. Given the state of our economy and the nation, the amount of money spent on elections is sickening. Companies, corporations, special interest groups, unions and individuals pour money into the election system to ensure that it is business as usual. I may be wrong but, doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results is what insanity means.

I propose what I call the Local Voter Only Act. This act would preclude any one from contributing to the campaign of a candidate except for the private individuals who live in that town, city, county, parish, district, or state. No pac money, associations, unions, businesses, agencies, comittees ,groups, parties, no one else. Why should some outside group interfere in who gets elected to represent me. I think they do have the rights to free speech, but they don't have the right to affect who gets elected when they don't live in whatever level of local,or state elections. Why? because they don't live here. And put a cap to contributions that mirror the mean income level for that area, not the avg.

There are plentiful ways in which a candidate can get out his or her message. So I lump the sierra club in with the koch bros. I lump teacher's unions in with union busting businesses. I lump the local car dealer hot shot in with the guys who live in Hawaii. JUst one flat maximum for everyone, everywhere, based on the level of governmental postions that are up for being filled. The farmers of Dunklin county Missouri should not have some city fellow from St. Louis, with lots of cash and a hardon for farmers coming inj and affecting the outcome of who that farmer's county commissioner should be. Monsanto shouldn't have a say in who gets elected for state rep, just because he promotes its monopolizing the seed industry. Donald trump shouldn't get to influence Phoenix's mayoral race just because he wants tax breaks to seize property in an eminent domain squabble for his hi-rise hotel or convention.

No, the only way to eliminate this abuse is to limit all business pertaining to an election, to the people who actually live in that area. They are still free to (in their own town) to express themselves.Just not where they don't live, not with money. You want to espress yourself and you're not in my congressional district, nothing is preventing you from writing to the papers and see if it's put in the editorial section. The Local Voter Only Act strips away all the influence of rich people's money, or business interest, or social wedge issues from preachers or bishops or teamsters or anybody who is not a private citizen in that voting place. IMHO

        I would vote for it!

I have always bristled when out of state groups stick their noses into local politics. Both sides do it to be sure, but these days it is out of control. There's little oversight, no way to follow the money. Voting is just a formality done to give the public its little cookie so they can go away feeling all special and content.

Before we can have a deficit under control, before we can get jobs on track, before we can focus on education - we need campaign finance reform. Without legitimate and impassioned representatives of the people our government will remain without merit or ability. We cannot achieve this with billions of dollars worth of election propaganda coming at us and shadow groups running things.

I believe all elctions should be publicly funded at the local level. That would include Federal elections but publicly financed by the electorate. Any under the table funding would be severely punished.

Politicians have become professional money pigs. They make money running and make money selling favors.

#7 Good suggestion. In the meantime, take it court on a number of grounds.

Wisconsin’s Democratic Party needs to up the game against David H. Koch and his astroturf group, Americans for Prosperity. Most states are defined as self-sufficient bodies united together in one community for the defense of the rights of its citizens.

          • David H. Koch is a resident of New York City, not Wisconsin
          • Under the 14th amendment, Koch has breached the law, which guarantees residents equal protection
          • While the Koch Klansman has an affinity with the John Birch Society that is HQ’d in Appleton/Grand Chute, the USA Patriot Act includes protections against “domestic terrorism.” Domestic terrorism is defined as:

... violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or, ideological goal; and deliberately target or disregard the safety civilians (non-combatants).

          • The RICO Act(Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organizations) has a civil component. Koch and AFP could be charged with conspiracy, extortion, fraud
          • David Koch has colluded a 501(C)3 organization to abridge the First Amendment rights of the citizens of Wisconsin. And he presents a clear and present danger by continuing criminal, civil and political anarchy by means of wire fraud(Internet banking).

Unions have been investing heavily to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a move that has some Democrats worried that there will be little money left for other battles across the nation.

Yup, I cut and pasted a Progressive rag.

Dem/Unions blew their $pecial interest wad to erase my vote for Governor and now cry for game change. Just like the little, sore loser, douche that wanted to change home runs to outs, in the backyard pick up game.

State law permits anyone targeted for a recall to bring in unlimited cash until an election is officially called.

What about funds provided to organizations that are active against Republicans and their agenda?

Soros gives a Million dollars to Media Matters and Media Matters then attacks Fox and the Republicans... Sure Soros did nothing personally he uses others to do his bidding for him... Or do you deny the Tides Foundation, The Open Society Foundation and organizations such as those...

Thanks for the book to read...

Interesting reading but as the author noted later in the piece not a lot to go on... A group that seems mostly politic with some influence but not a money driven organization, more like a gentleman's club of politic heavy weights..

But an organization that seems to be against the One- World Government types...

So the Opposite of the Fabiens and the Soros types.

Reporters on the phone call, however, voiced various notes of skepticism about whether this would lead to an investigation, noting the recent proliferation of 501(c)(3) organizations that have become active voices in political discourse. But Tate stood his ground.

Like Media Matters for America? This Dem needs to back off or this issue might go to places darker then he could ever imagine like the Chicago Obama re-election team, the White House and MSNBC who all have been caught with their corrupt paws in the 501 (c)(3) MMfA cookie jar.

What do they hope to accomplish, other than owning the USA and calling all the shots for the rest of us. Absolute power corrupts.
